Health Insurance Reforms
Proposed changes to health insurance effecting Australians with chronic pain.
Health Minister Greg Hunt has announced the biggest changes to health insurance in twenty years.
Scheduled to take effect in April 2019, these major changes to the health insurance industry may affect Northern Pain Centre patients.
The government will require that health insurers offer consumers a four-tier premium system: Gold, Silver, Bronze and Basic.
If these changes are implemented, admission to hospital for the treatment of chronic pain will only be covered by the Gold tier level of cover.
Northern Pain Centre patients are urged to contact their health insurer to check that they will be appropriately covered for treatment of chronic pain.
