Pulsed Radiofrequency to the Dorsal Root Ganglion

This treatment is an alternate option for neuropathic pain effecting the lower limb. Commonly called radicular pain, or in layman’s terms “sciatica”, it is frequent accompaniment to low back pain either before or after spinal surgery. It is the result of damage to or irritation of the nerve root, most commonly by a protruding (or “slipped or “bulging”) disc. Regardless of the cause, PRF aims to modulate the nerve’s function with electrical stimulation and so relieve pain. One or more levels may be treated as necessary.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner. Northern Pain Centre can facilitate you obtaining a second opinion. Please discuss this with us.
